World Interfaith Harmony Week
Promoting peace and understanding among people of all faiths and beliefs.
About
World Interfaith Harmony Week is observed during the first week of February each year. It encourages dialogue and cooperation among people of different religious and non-religious backgrounds, emphasising shared values of peace, justice, and compassion. Events worldwide include interfaith prayer gatherings, lectures, and community service projects.
History
World Interfaith Harmony Week was proposed by King Abdullah II of Jordan and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on October 20, 2010. The initiative builds on the Common Word document — a landmark open letter calling for dialogue grounded in love of God and love of neighbour, signed by Muslim and Christian leaders worldwide.
